Our History

Purath-Strand Funeral Home was founded in 1985 by Richard E. Purath and Gary L. Strand, two professionals who shared a commitment to family-centered care and exceptional service. The firm moved to its current location in January 1986, designed to provide a welcoming, comfortable environment for families to gather and remember.

Continuing that spirit of service, Purath-Strand opened Racine County’s first on-site crematory in 1999, ensuring families could take comfort in knowing their loved one would always remain in our care.

Though ownership and times have changed, the values that defined Richard and Gary’s vision remain the foundation of everything we do—compassion, respect, and unwavering dedication to the families we serve.
