Obituary

RACINE – William R. Rieser, 96, passed away at St. Luke's Hospital in Milwaukee on Tuesday, March 17, 2015. Bill was born in Racine on April 18, 1918 to William B. and Nellie (Harder) Rieser. He was a proud graduate of Wm. Horlick High School, Class of '36. On July 10, 1937, Bill married the love of his life, the former Ruth E. Johnson, with whom he celebrated 70 years of marriage. Bill proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked at Jacobson Manufacturing and partnered with his brother Bernie in a DX gas station for many years before retiring from W.H. Pugh Oil Company. He was a member of the Hamlin Club, an avid Packer fan, loved going to and watching Brewers games and attending family events. He was the happiest in life when spending time with his children and grandchildren and reminiscing at Bill's Hideout. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, daughters, Marcia Mabie, Jacqueline Treptow and granddaughter, Kaaren Mabie. He is survived by his children; William (Kathryn) Rieser and his children, Timothy Rieser, Karen Gray, Nancy Walker, Kurt Rieser and Ryan LaChapelle; Larry (Sharyl) Rieser and their children, Cynthia Thompson and Stephanie Beisel; Bonnie (Calvin) Rossmann and their children, Brian Rossmann and Kimberly Cooper; Linda Rieser; Vicki (Paul) Roeder and their children, David Roeder and Jim Roeder; Randy (Terri) Rieser and their children Nicole DaPra and Matthew Rieser; son-in-law, Gerald Treptow and his children, Susan Hullin and Thomas Treptow; and Marcia's children, Shelley Hawbecker, Jennifer Mabie and Christine Andrews; 19 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. Bill is also survived by many other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Sunday, March 22, 2015 at the funeral home from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. with a service to follow with Rev. John Bischoff officiating. Entombment will take place on Monday, March 23 at West Lawn Memorial Park. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Visiting Nurse Mary, Dr. Zablotney at Aurora Health Care in Racine and Dr. Kostopoulous at St. Luke's Hospital in Milwaukee for their compassionate care. A very special thanks to daughter Linda for being a great caregiver.
