Union Grove – William J. Ratzburg, Sr., 91, passed away at the Veterans Home on Friday, December 18, 2009.Bill was born in Dupont, WI on May 4, 1918 to William and Hulda (nee, Ehlert) Ratzburg. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII. Bill married the former Eleanor M. Knoke in Milwaukee on September 29, 1945. She preceded him in death on February 20, 2009. He was employed by Midland Container Corp, last working and retiring from Great Northern Corp. He loved to play Shafskopf, cribbage and vacation in northern Wisconsin. Bill, together with Eleanore, enjoyed frequenting the various Senior Centers in Racine. Bill is survived by his sons, William J. (Marilyn A.) Ratzburg, Jr. and Robert E. (Sharon) Ratzburg; grandchildren, Aaron (Kellie) Ratzburg, Nikolaus (Shanna) Ratzburg and Zachary Ratzburg; and great-granddaughters, Brooke Ratzburg and Brie Ratzburg. Bill is also survived by other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Gretchen Ratzburg; and his brothers and sisters. Funeral services for Bill will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Stephen Jennings officiating. Interment will take place in Roseland Cemetery in Marion, WI. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Memorials may be directed to Racine Lutheran High School.
