RACINE – William A. Markus, 75, passed away peacefully at Elizabeth Residence on Wednesday, October 21, 2015. Bill was born in Racine on March 11, 1940 to Alex and Margaret (nee, Drott) Markus. He married the former Gale C. Cicero. Bill served in the U.S. Army in the 82nd Airborne, and was stationed in Korea. He retired from Wisconsin Electric Power Company after more than 38 years. Survivors include his wife, Gale C. Markus; daughter, Jane (Tim) Slusar; grandchildren, Tia and Zakari Slusar; and his brother and sister, Robert (Alice) Markus and Marianne Bruzas. Bill is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service for Bill will be held at the funeral home on Thursday evening, October 29, 2015 at 6 p.m. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 p.m. until the time of the service at 6 p.m. In keeping with Bill's wishes, cremation has taken place. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff's at Burlington Rehabilitation and Care Center, and the Elizabeth Residence for all of their care and compassion.
