William R. DeWees, Jr. passed away on October 3, 2018 while up in God's Country in Land O'Lakes, WI. 'Little Bill' was born in Chicago, Il. on March 13, 1949 to William and the late Marie DeWees. Bill started his educational journey in Chicago and graduated from Divine Savior Grammar School and Ridgewood High School in Norridge, Il. after the family moved there in 1957. He then went on to Northern Illinois University where he majored in and graduated in 1971 with a B.S. in English. He went to England in the Summer of 1970 to Oxford University where he furthered his studies and had a grand old time in 'Jolly ole England'.For a while, Bill worked as a Social Worker in Chicago, occasionally taught school, but was mostly pulled to the craftsmanship of carpentry. He worked as a carpenters' apprentice and became a Master Carpenter. He was a Carpenters Union man and continued to work in the Chicago area doing rehab work in homes and hospitals, and anywhere a Master Carpenter was needed.While pursuing his education and career goals, Bill stayed true to hisPassion: Music! His heart and soul was guided by a melody, a tune, a classic composition. He was in the bands the 'Wascally Wabbits', the 'Remarkables', and the 'Geezers' and could be found playing venues in Chicago and the Suburbs. He was a trained pianist who could play by ear. Bill was a bass guitarist, played any guitar whether it was a 6 string or 12 string. He played a wicked harmonica. The music was always flowing. He was also the Chicago Blackhawks biggest fan.Bill leaves behind his Father, William R. DeWees, Sr., his brother, John David, his sister and brother-in-law MaryBeth (Brian) Miller. Bill was that special Uncle to Michael Miller, Adam (Hollie) Miller, Special Uncle and Godfather to Nicholas Miller; Dr. Jonathan DeWees, Dan (Casey) DeWees.Bill was the best Great Uncle to Elise and Owen Miller, and always had the most fun a person could have when together. Bill always planned a special visit up North each Summer and he had a ball making pancakes for everyone.He was preceded in death by his Mom, Marie DeWees, maternal and paternal Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles.Your presence we miss, your memories we treasure, loving you always, Forgetting you never.In keeping with Bill's wishes, a private family service was held. Cremation has taken place.
