RACINE - Wenceslao Gutierrez Ruiz, affectionately known as "Papa Bencho", 87 of Racine, WI, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2017 in Milwaukee, WI, after a fatal car accident. He was born in Oaxaca, Mexico on August 18,1929 to Wenceslao Gutierrez Marcial and Rosa Ruiz Diaz. Mr. Gutierrez Ruiz came to the US in the 1950's through the Bracero Worker's program. He worked as a farmworker in California and Wisconsin and later at Lehmann's Bakery in Racine. After his retirement, Wenceslao spent his time between California, Wisconsin and Oaxaca, Mexico visiting his daughters and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Wenceslao had a tremendous appreciation for life and was very independent. In a typical day, you could see Mr. Gutierrez Ruiz enjoying the pleasures of riding the bus around Racine, WI. Wenceslao is survived by his daughters, Rosaura Mendoza, Marciala Gutierrez and Consuelo Ruiz, his brother Saul Gutierrez, 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.Wenceslao's selfless spirit and honorable life will be celebrated through a Visitation Service and a Mass. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at the funeral home from 5pm until 8pm. Mass will be held at St. Patrick's Church 1100 Erie St on Monday, February 20, 2017 at 6p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at church from 5 p.m. until the time of the Mass at 6 p.m. The burial will be in his hometown of San Sebastian Teitipac in Oaxaca, Mexico. Lo podias ver en los autobuses de muchas ciudades haciendo sus viajes.Wenceslao es sobrevivido por sus hijas, Rosaura Mendoza, Marciala Gutierrez, y Consuelo Ruiz, y su hermano Saul Gutierrez, 10 nietos y 12 bisnietos.Su vida honorable y su espiritu sera conmemorado en Purath Strand Funeral Home. Horario de visita sera Domingo Febrero 19, 2017 de 5-8pm. La misa sera el Lunes 20 de Febrero de 6-7pm en la Iglesia San Patricio. La direccin de San Patricio es 1100 Erie St. Racine, WI. Horario de visita en misa empezar a las 5pm. El sera sepultado en su pueblo natal de San Sebastian Teitipac en Oaxaca, Mexico.
