Obituary
Caledonia- Wanda D. Meyer-Brethorst, 73 passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2025 in her home.
She was born in Baldwin, WI on March 5, 1952 to the late Robert B. and Dorothy (nee: O'Connell) Meyer.
Wanda was a 1970 graduate of Reedsburg Webb High School and attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
On April 25, 1990 she married William L. Brethorst.
Wanda was employed as a financial planner with Waddell and Redd until her retirement.
She is survived by her husband William "Bill" Brethorst; her children Jason Brethorst, Justin Brethorst, and Joshua (Jessica) Brethorst; her siblings David Meyer, Jerry Meyer, Donnie (Brenda) Meyer, Linda (Evan) Meyer, Roberta (David) Kairis, Craig (Debbie) Meyer and Sue Gregerson. Wanda is further survived by her nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, Wanda is preceded in death by her brother Rodney Meyer and her sister Judy Meyer.
Wanda was a woman of strength, warmth, and an unforgettable spirit. We will always remember her voice and her love for nature. She had a presence that filled every room, and a way of speaking that made people listen. Her words carried meaning, her laughter lifted spirits, and her honesty left a lasting impact.
She found peace and joy in the natural world—in the trees, the sky, the sound of the wind and her fond love of the beach. Being outside made her feel grounded, and she taught us to appreciate the quiet beauty that surrounds us every day. We like to think that now she is part of that beauty.
Wanda loved her family as much as life itself. Wanda had a mother presence about her from helping raise her siblings, watching her sons grow up, in addition to her many nieces and nephews and her love of spending time with her great-niece and great-nephew and the many trips they spent together. The children's laughter and love brought so much joy into her life.
A memorial service honoring Wanda's life will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025 from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm at the Reedsburg Country Club, 3003 E Main Street, Reedsburg, WI 53959.
