RACINE – Walter Spangenberg, 101, passed away at Willowgreen on Wednesday, February 3, 2016. Wally was born in St. Paul, MN on July 21, 1914 to Walter and Bessie (nee, Finson) Spangenberg. He moved to Racine in 1941. Wally married Leona Klema on June 13, 1942 in Racine. She preceded him in death in November of 1998. Wally retired from Jacobson Manufacturing in 1976. He enjoyed the outdoors, taking care of his yard and visiting with friends. Wally also has fun sharing breakfast with some of his past co-workers from Jacobson Manufacturing and lunches frequently with his son. He was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church. Survivors include his children, Mark (Karen) Spangenberg, Barbara Friedrich and Sue (William) Wolff of Racine; eight grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren. In keeping with Wally's wishes, no services will be held. Memorials may be directed to the Wisconsin Humane Society, Racine Campus. The family would like to thank the staff at Willowgreen and Heartland Hospice for all of their love and care during this difficult time.
