Obituary

RACINE – Wallace E. Olson, "Bud", age 84, passed away peacefully at home on February 10th, 2015. Bud was born in Racine, WI on June 3rd, 1930 to Ben and Evelyn (nee, Rosquist) Olson. In 1950, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy to serve our country which was during the Korean War. On July 16th, 1951, when "Bud" was 21 years old, he was in an unfortunate car accident that left him to live the rest of his life as a quadriplegic. While his days were spent in a wheelchair he never let that stop him from pursuing the difficult tasks that he struggled with each day. Bud was determined to enjoy life and through his unbelievable strong will along with the love and encouragement of numerous family members, "Bud" went on to enjoy his journey of life. "Bud" had a terrific sense of humor and soon was also "THE BOSS". Over the years Bud enjoyed spending the summer months up North in Wisconsin with his Mother at their cottage along with numerous relatives. Bud was an avid card player and really enjoyed playing Cribbage, Poker, Pinochle, Canasta, Uno, Royal Rummy, and Yahtzee. He was exceptional at Chess, Scrabble and Billiards. He was fond of birds and wild life. He will be remembered as the "Uncle Bud" that was admired, respected and loved. "Bud" was truly a "Blessing in Disguise" from our Lord and Savior and was an inspiration to all! "Bud" is survived by one sister, Ardys L. Kasabian of Racine, WI and one brother-in-law, Wilford Swanson of Norway, MI. He is also survived by three generations of nieces and nephews and other relatives. "Bud" was preceded in death by both of his parents and five sisters. Doris B. Olson, Janice I. Olson, Betty J. Swanson, Joyce E. Sura and Marjorie H. Gregory. The funeral service with full military honors for "Bud" will be held on Wednesday, February 18th, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in the West Lawn Memorial Park Chapel. Memorials to The Make-A-Wish Foundation and The Wounded Warriors Project have been suggested. Our family would like to thank "Bud's" live-in caregivers. They all gave him excellent care!
