Virginia E. NygaardRacine- Virginia E. Nygaard, 88, passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2007 at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare.Virginia was born in Racine on February 22, 1919 to Paul and Lottie (nee: Erey) Leitl. She married Vernon Nygaard in 1948. He preceded her in death. In her later years Virginia enjoyed watching the Packers, Brewers, and the Cubs.She is survived by her loving daughters, Jennifer (Art) Barootian and Pamela Newman; brother, John Leitl all of Racine; daughter in law, Linda Nygaard of Plover; five grandchildren, Michelle Barootian, Michael Barootian, Nicholas Newman, Jay and Leah Nygaard. Virginia is also survived by many cousins. She was preceded in death by her son Jeffrey P. Nygaard.Funeral services for Virginia will be held at St. Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church on Monday, December 17, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Yeprem Kelegian officiating. Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Monday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church have been suggested.The family would like to extend a special thanks to Carol Nemitz, her closest companion in recent years and also to the Wheaton Franciscan Staff and Hospice for making her passing easier on the family.
