Victor Deno Racine - Victor Deno, 82, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints on Wednesday, January 23, 2008. Vic was born in Escanaba, MI on October 10, 1925 to Noe and Mae (nee, Langenfeld) Deno. He married the former Gloria Mae Rumage on April 14, 1951. She preceded him in death on January 30, 2004. Vic served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy aboard the destroyer escort, U.S.S. Decker. He retired from Walker Forge in 1988. Vic was proud to be a Union leader, where he was very active, holding many of the various offices in the union at Walker Forge. Vic was the last survivor among his siblings. He was an avid reader and card player, enjoying the simple things in life. He will always be remembered as a kind and generous person, by all that knew him. Survivors include his children, Toni (Ed) Buhler and Michael (Gail Juoni) Deno; grandchildren, Aaron Deno, Brian and Jim Buhler, and Allan, Kelly and Kyle Hart; great-grandchildren, Hannah and Sydney Buhler, and Austyn Gonzalez; and special niece, Carol Kapellusch. Vic is also survived and loved by many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ernest (Millie) Deno, Raymond (Shirley) Deno, Clarence (Hazel) Deno and Virgil Deno; and sisters and brother-in-law, Lucille (Ben) Doran, Leona Deno and Marion Yahnke. Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the funeral home on Saturday morning, January 26, 2008 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. A time of sharing will be held at 11 a.m. Private family inurnment will take place at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare for all of their compassionate care.
