RACINE – Vera Miner, 95, passed away at home on Thursday, November 19, 2015. Vera was born in Racine on August 8, 1920 to Ernst and Clara (nee, Sauer) Noffke. Vera was a National Honor Student and proud graduate of the Class of 38" from Wm. Horlick High School. She was a classically trained contralto vocalist and sang with the Lorelei Chorus in her young adult years. She married Donald E. Miner on May 29, 1943 in Stillwater, MN. After dedicating her time to her three children, she worked with her husband as a pharmacy technician at the Don Miner Pharmacy. Upon retiring, Don and Vera relocated to Florida, where she volunteered at the Parrish Medical Center for 14 years. In 1997, the couple returned to Racine to be closer to family. As with any mother, Vera's greatest joy was spending time with her children and their families. Vera and Don were members of Evangelical United Methodist Church. Don preceded her in death on October 17, 2003.Survivors include her children, Patricia (Steven) Stroschein, Robert (Jayne) Miner; grandchildren, Beth Miner, Jason (Katie) Miner, Aaron (Erika) Miner, Erik (Martha) Stroschein and Sarah Stroschein; step grandchild Crystal Lucas and step great grandchild, Andrew Lucas; great grandchildren, Sydney, Elyssa, Zachary, Clara and Davidson Miner; brother in law, Charles Miner. Vera is also survived by many dear nieces, nephews, very special friends and neighbors. She is preceded in death by her son Dallas (Brandon) Miner; brothers, Edward and Ernest Noffke and nephew, Ray Noffke.Memorial services for Vera will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 12 noon with Rev. John Fleming officiating. Interment will take place in Mound Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 12 noon. Memorials have been suggested to Evangelical United Methodist Church.
