Obituary

Treva Mae Wright Fleming, born December 10, 1938 at home in Dogwood, MO to Pansy Violet Cornelison Wright and Nicholas Bardain Wright was sent to her eternal home on March 15, 2025, where she was reunited with her beloved husband, Bill Fleming.

Treva was raised by her maternal grandmother, Lillie Jane Cornelison and her Aunt Lola Mae (Cornelison) Williams after her mother's untimely death when she was 17 days old. Treva met her husband Bill while attending Ava High School in MO whom she married in Reno, NV on July 2, 1955, and proceeded to spend the next 69 years utterly devoted to each other and their family.  She graduated from Ava High School in 1956 and moved to California but eventually settled down in Illinois, where with her husband, she raised two sons, Nicholas and Matthew. Upon Bill's retirement, they moved to Holcomb, IL and she spent over twenty years loving her home, neighbors and community. She will not be forgotten.

Treva was devoted to her family and those whom she considered family. Her personality drew people to her and her home was always open to them. Her house was filled with love and laughter. It was usually overrun with teenagers, who found acceptance, understanding and kindness while often being fed a warm southern meal.  She adored Thanksgiving , and was so delighted that her children, their spouses and extended family filled up her home every year. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren fiercely and was exceedingly proud of each of them.  She was known to tell everyone what they were up to and how wonderful she thought they all were. They miss her terribly.

Treva loved antiquing and auctions. She spent many years owning her antique business Treva's Treasures. Her love for glassware and dishes was well known and her home was always overflowing with her new finds. For many years, she spent Saturday nights at local auctions where she found so much joy conversing and outbidding her friends for those 'treasures' she cherished. Additionally, she was fond of crafting and quilting. Later in life she developed a passion for Beanie Babies and would hunt them down with her neighbor and dear friend, Jan. Treva always said that looking at them just gave her such joy.

Treva loved flowers, bright colors which matched her bright and welcoming personality. She loved canning vegetables from their large garden. For over 20 years, she and Bill hosted an annual community bonfire and chili dinner. She planned, prepped and looked forward to it every year. To her, it was all about loved ones and making memories. She was delighted that family members took over the tradition when it became too much for them.

Having an uncommon name, she was delighted when she discovered a Facebook group dedicated to anyone named Treva. She got highly involved with the group. She enjoyed travelling and meeting so many wonderful people that shared her first name. She and Bill travelled across the country for annual trips to meet up with other Trevas. The family would like to specifically thank all the lovely ladies that brought so much joy to her life.

Preceded in death by her parents, Pansy, Bardain, step-mother Dora,  her Grandmother Lillie (Jesse) and Aunt Lola Mae (Art),  as well as her son, David. Survived by her sons, Nicholas (Darlene), Matthew (Jessica), Her grandchildren Adam (Christina), Nathan (Ana), Ariel (Shawn) and Jacob. Her greatgrandchildren Owen, Ethan, Oliver and Michelle.  Along with numerous brother and sister in laws, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank her caregivers, both in Holcomb and Racine for their help, along with Heartland Hospice for her care in recent days. A celebration of Life is planned for April 19th in Rockford, IL at Lino's Restaurant. Additional Details forthcoming.
