Racine – Thomas R. Borgardt, 77, passed away at Ascension All Saints Hospital on Friday, April 14, 2017. Tom was born in Racine on March 12, 1940 to Richard and Ella G. (nee, Gregersen) Borgardt. Tom served in the U.S. Army. On June 3, 1961, he married the former Nancy L. Ehen at Holy Communion Lutheran Church in Racine. She preceded him in death on October 17, 2015. Tom was employed by S.C. Johnson for over 36 years, retiring in January 1999. He was a member of the S.C. Johnson 20 Year Club. Tom was very active in Racine County, serving on the Racine County Drainage Commission as an inspector for over 5 years. He was Secretary of the Mt. Pleasant Storm Water Commission for many years and served as a director for the Mt. Pleasant/Yorkville Mutual Insurance Company. Tom also loved his farm and spending time at his cottage on the lake. Survivors include his sons, Richard (Sue Kamphuis) Borgardt and Robert (Debra) Borgardt; grandchildren, Jennifer, Annette, Nicole and twins, Ashley and Meagan; brother, James (Linda) Borgardt and niece, Robyn; sister-in-law, Mary Jo Lang and nieces and nephew. Tom is also survived by his special friend, Karen Barkow; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his father-in-law, mother-in-law and brother-in-law, Robert Lang. Funeral services for Tom will be held at Holy Communion Lutheran Church on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park with Full Military Honors. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 7 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be directed to Holy Communion Lutheran Church. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Gullberg, Dr. Bader and the ICU staff at Ascension All Saints for their compassionate care.
