Sylvia Witt died peacefully in her senior residence in Palo Alto, CA at the age of 97. Sylvia is survived by her four children: Suzanne, Jonathan (Sharmeon), Kathleen, and Thomas (Jennifer). Her grandchildren: Kimberly, Dustin, Jay (Amanda), Jessica (Jeremy). Her great grandchildren: Kathleen, Jonah, Samuel, Journey, Joule, Justin and a great, great grandchild: Alexa. Her step grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her beloved nephews Gary (Pat), Jim (Julie), David, Jack (Renee), James, and nieces Judy (Terry), Linda and all of their children. She is preceded in death by her husband (Walter), nephew Robert, and all of her siblings and has said on many occasions that she is looking forward to joining them in heaven.Born on October 30, 1916 in Racine Wisconsin to Charles and Lena Bartz, she graduated from Horlick High School and married soon after. Sylvia was accomplished at cooking, sewing, managing a household and had a great passion for her family. She was a dedicated church member offering her skills to many projects for St. John's Lutheran Church and Racine Lutheran High School. She also attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Palo Alto, CA. She courageously made the decision to move to California in 2004 and acclimated to California very quickly, establishing many friendships and demonstrating her independence and wisdom. She could be called a "fashionista" with her eye for fashion. She was known for her kindness, gentleness and her caregivers frequently would share how "sweet" she was. A funeral is scheduled for 1PM on Monday, November 3rd at St. John's Lutheran Church 501 Kewaunee St., Racine, WI. A visitation at the church will precede the funeral from 11:00 to 1:00PM. Sylvia will be put to rest at Graceland cemetery. Memorials can be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or Racine Lutheran High School.
