RACINE – Susan G. Hatch, nee, Marshall, 77, passed away at home on Saturday, August 1, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. Susan was born in Oak Park, IL on November 16, 1937 to the late Fred B. Marshall and Edna Polk Marshall. Susan attended Riverside Brookfield High School before attending and graduating from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. Susan married Robert L. Hatch on February 4, 1982 following her marriage to Lloyd A. Atwell.Susan grew up spending summers at her family lake home on Magician Lake in Michigan and again as an adult when for many years she and Bob enjoyed their summer lake homes in Michigan and Racine, WI. Susan spent much of her adult life living in Lake Bluff, IL. Family and friends were Susan's passion and delight as she loved to host and entertain. For the last 21 years, Susan and Bob wintered in Florida where they owned and operated a general contracting business. She loved gardening and golfing. Susan was a talented artist - painting pictures, creating beautiful bird houses, refinishing trunks and artfully decorating her many homes. Susan will be dearly missed by her husband and soul mate Robert L. Hatch; children Russell (Lisa) Leonard, Debora Boucher, Linda (John) Daley and James (Leanne) Atwell; grandchildren Heather (Scott) Meerstein, Keith Berstler, Courtney (Christopher) Soran, Rusty Leonard, Corin Atwell, Katherine Gould, Ian Leonard and Kelsey Gould; great-grandchildren Adalyn Meerstein, Sierra Soran and Blake Meerstein; siblings Mary Lou (Donald) Halamka, Harry (Marcia) Marshall and Sarah (Jeff) Berg; and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at Purath-Strand Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. and on Thursday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11a.m. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery.
