RACINE – Shirley R. Recupero, 89, passed away at residence surrounded by her loving family on Friday, September 29, 2017. Shirley was born in Fennimore, WI on February 6, 1928 to Robert and Esther (nee, Lerdahl) Strommen. She married Anthony Recupero. He preceded her in death. Shirley was a great mother and caregiver – an inspiration to all of us. She loved to read and travel. Survivors include her children, Linda (Terry) Ritt, Patricia (Roger) Gilbertson, Barbara (LeRoy) Coates, Toni (George) Chardukian, Nick (Karen) Recupero, Richard (Lannie) Recupero, David (Laurie) Recupero and Chuck (Michele) Recupero; sixteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy (Frank) Fumo and Evelyn Joslin. Shirley is also survived by other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Anthony Charles Recupero; four sisters and two brothers. A Mass of Christian Burial for Shirley will be held at St. Rita Parish, 4339 Douglas Avenue, on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. celebrated by Fr. Richard O'Leary. A private family entombment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the church on Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 11:00 a.m. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff at Parkview Gardens and Hospice Alliance for all the compassionate care provide to our mother, Shirley.
