Racine – Shirley J. Parker, nee Nowakowski, 71, passed away at her home on Wednesday, July 21, 2010. Shirley was born in Milwaukee on October 24, 1938 to Edward and Irene Nowakowski. She married Marvin J. Parker on January 16, 1960. He preceded her in death. Shirley retired from S.C. Johnson. Shirley was a member of St. Rita's Catholic Church. She was a tennis champ and enjoyed traveling, but most of all she was a wonderful loving wife and mother. Shirley is survived by her children, Raymond (Kathryn) Parker, Diane Parker, John (Jeanne) Parker and Jan (James) Zurawski; and grandchildren, Sophia, Claire and Jack Parker, Anthony Parenteau and Blake Parker; sister and brothers, Sr. Marie Therese Nowakowski, Wally Nowakowski, Larry (Kathy) Nowakowski and Jerry Nowakowski. Shirley is also survived by other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Chris Urban and brother, Ron Nowakowski. A Memorial Mass for Shirley will be held at St. Rita's Catholic Church, 4339 Douglas Avenue, on Monday, July 26, 2010 at 12 noon celebrated by Rev. Joseph Stobba, O.S.A. Inurnment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Monday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Alliance.
