Shirley Sedgwick Mourad Racine - Shirley Sedgwick Mourad, 90, received her Angel wings on Tuesday, January 22, 2008. Shirley was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 15, 1917 to Jesse and Helen (nee, Farrow) Galloway. She married John Sedgwick who preceded her in death in 1969. Shirley then married Robert Mourad who preceded her in death in 2001. Shirley had a lifelong love for music and dance, and was a professional ballerina. She owned and operated a dance studio in Illinois. Survivors include her children, John (Judy) Sedgwick, Sally Mourad, Deborah (Michael) Prosser, Janet (Tom) Stinard and Jess (Karen) Sedgwick; 14 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. Shirley is also survived by other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandson, John Smith Sedgwick, III. Shirley was a loving grandmother and was very proud of all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services for Shirley will be held at Emmaus Lutheran Church, 1925 Summit Avenue, on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at 11 a.m. with Rev. John Fleming officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association or a charity of one's choice. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Joseph Matthew and the staffs of Lincoln Village Convalescent Center and Hospice Alliance for all of their care and compassion shown to Shirley.
