RACINE – Shirley A. Meyer, (nee, Lackey), 69, passed away in Rockwall, Texas on Monday, April 20, 2015. Shirley was born in Racine on October 18, 1945 to Melvin and Bernadette (nee, Hanson) Lackey. She spent most of her life in Racine. She graduated from Horlick High School in 1963 and attended Gateway Technical College. In 1968 she married Albin Meyer. Shirley worked for St. Mary's Medical Center as an aid and medical secretary for over 10 years. She also worked for Surgitech for 7 years and the Y.W.C.A. for 8 years where she served as a swim instructor and life guard. Shirley served as Vice President for the Marine Corps Auxiliary, supporting our veterans. Shirley was also a member of the Red Hat Society, United Commercial Travelers, supported Special Olympics and was a member of a home makers group, helping those in nursing homes. She also had a lifelong passion and dedication for St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Survivors include her children, Michelle (Mike) Pelletier of Union Grove, Andrew (Diana) Meyer of TX and Daniel (Debbie) Meyer of CA; step son, Troy (Jeanette) Meyer of FL; grandchildren, Ryannon Joy, Morgan Shea, Brendan Wayne and John Taylor Michael all of Union Grove, Sarah Glyn of TX, Maddison Patricia, Ashley Lynn, Tiara Ann and Cheyanne Haven all of CA; sisters and brothers, Jean (Ron) Thieme of Racine, Chuck (Joan) Lackey of Luxemburg, Betty (Scott) Frederick of AZ, Joe (Linda) Lackey of Racine, Jim (Kelly) Lackey of Sheboygan and John Lackey; and sister-in-law Dawn Schommer-Lackey. Shirley is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Melvin Lackey, Mother, Bernadette Lackey-Brehm and step father "Grandpa Gene" Brehm. Funeral Services for Shirley will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, April 23 at 12 p.m. Inurnment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
