Racine – Shirley M. Kizewic, 80, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints on Friday, October 11, 2013. Shirley was born in Racine on November 1, 1932 to LeRoy C. "Chip" and Clara (nee, Jacoby) Chapek. On October 30, 1954, she married her lifetime sweetheart, Richard D. Kizewic, celebrating 59 years of marriage. Shirley graduated from Wm. Horlick High School in 1951. Upon graduation she attended St. Luke's School of Nursing where she graduated as President of her class and was a speaker at her graduation ceremony. Shirley was a labor and delivery nurse at St. Luke's Hospital for over forty-three years. In retirement she volunteered for more than ten years with the Healthcare Network. She was a parish nurse for Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Shirley was an avid Green Bay Packer and Milwaukee Brewer fan. Shirley is survived by her husband, Richard D. Kizewic; children, Richard "Rick" Kizewic and Joan M. Rediske; grandchildren, Kelli Rediske and Jacob Rediske; her sister, Betty Hafemann; and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Chapek and Ruth Chapek. Shirley is also survived by other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Roger Rediske; and her brothers, Charles Chapek and William Chapek. Memorial services for Shirley will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at 3 p.m. with Rev. Jane Fryda officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorials may be directed to the Nurses Foundation of Racine or the Wisconsin Humane Society.
