WATERFORD – Shirley M. Asselin, 82, passed away at Elder Care Cottage on Tuesday, March 15, 2016. Shirley was born in Stanley, WI on May 20, 1933 to George and Emma Drace. On November 19, 1949, Shirley married Gilbert D. Asselin in Thorp, WI. He preceded her in death on July 24, 2002. Shirley loved shopping and taking others that needed a ride to do chores. She enjoyed bingo, puzzles, crossword and watching game shows. Survivors include her children, Layton (Susie) Asselin, Mark (Linda) Asselin, Rex (Sue) Asselin, Rachelle (Rick) Wagner, Kevin (Monica) Asselin, Karen (Rick) Jordan, Brian Asselin, Brad (Sandy) Asselin and Tracie (Al) Ratz; 23 grandchildren; and 31 great grandchildren. Shirley is also survived by her sisters, Margaret Schultz and Mary Schultz; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and five siblings. A Memorial Service for Shirley will be held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 4340 Six Mile Road, on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Chris Lockie officiating. Inurnment will take place at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
