Sean Gregory Albrecht, 38, passed away on May 19, 2026, following a weeklong fight after he was struck by a car in the construction zone where he was working. Born on September 25, 1987, Sean’s life was cut far too short, leaving behind family and friends who loved him deeply and will miss him always.
Sean had a wry sense of humor and an uncanny ability to work The Sopranos into nearly any conversation. Whether it was a perfectly delivered one-liner or the mischievous grin with a sparkle in his eye, his humor was unmistakably Sean. Beneath it all was an incredibly kind heart and a deep love for his family, friends and the outdoors.
Nothing brought Sean more joy than his son, Sean Jr. He loved cheering him on at Taekwondo, making him laugh and being a kid right alongside him. He shared a deep devotion to golf and the Green Bay Packers with his beloved “Gramps.” Wherever Sean went, he brought warmth and joy with him.
Sean will be forever loved and missed by his partner, Breanna Wagner; his son, Sean Jr.; his dog, Bailey; his mom, Lisa Egresi; stepdad, Tom Egresi; brother, Matthew Albrecht (Katie); sister, Chloe Howard (Corey); grandparents, John and Kay Schulz; step-grandma, Carol Egresi, niece, Amelia Albrecht; godfather, Bob Basil and godmother, Amy Hernandez, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who adored him. He was preceded in death by his dad, Greg Albrecht; grandparents, Terri and Herman Albrecht; and step-grandpa, Wayne Egresi.
Sean will be remembered for his huge heart and the way he made ordinary moments unforgettable. The world feels less bright without him in it.
His family extends heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Gundersen Health System for the extraordinary care and kindness shown to Sean and his family.
Funeral services for Sean will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Purath-Strand Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
