Racine – Sandra L. Wirt, 64, passed away after a short and courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, April 7, 2012. Sandy was born in Racine on January 16, 1948 to Arthur A. and Gladys J. (nee, Kime) Jacoby. She married David Wirt on January 17, 1970 at St. John's Lutheran Church. Sandy retired from Aurora Shorecrest Pharmacy where she had been employed as a Pharmacy Technician for many years. Sandy is survived by her husband, David Wirt; daughter, Stacey L. Bates; grandchildren, Sophie, Simone, Sebastian, Spencer and Seth; and her sister, Joanne (Thomas) Wall. Sandy is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Karon Wiese. Memorial services for Sandy will be held at the funeral home on Friday, April 13, 2012 at 4 p.m. with Rev. Daniel Feldscher officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Friday afternoon from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Lung Association. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Cancer Care Center and the staff on 2-D for all their compassionate care shown to Sandy.
