Obituary

Samuel Sarkis KaprelianRacine-Samuel Sarkis Kaprelian, passed away unexpectedly on February 6, 2012 one day shy of his 87th birthday at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare.Sam was born in Racine on February 7, 1925 to Rupan and Osgy (nee: Balian) Kaprelian. He graduated from Horlick High School in 1943 and from Spencerian College in Milwaukee with a degree in accounting. Sam worked in accounting for Webster Electric and Jockey, retiring in 1987. Sam served in the United States Army during WWII. He married Mary Armaganian at St.Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church on December 6, 1952. Sam was a very active and lifelong member of St. Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church serving as a Sunday school superintendant and teacher, bookkeeper and trustee. He was a member of the Knights of Vartan. Sam was a Junior Achievement Advisor and served on the board of the Kenosha Salvation Army. He enjoyed his daily walks, bowling, golf and doing crossword puzzles.Sam is survived by his wife, Mary Kaprelian; children, John of Union Grove, Mark (Beverly) of Racine, Paul (Kathy) of Franksville and Nancy Kaprelian Tackett of Pewaukee; grandchildren, John (Julie), Adam and Molly Kaprelian and Sam and Luke Tackett; and Siblings, John Kaprelian of Whitwell, TN, Elsie Giragosian of Waukegan, IL and Susan Dayenian of Gurnee, IL. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Sam was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Sonia Rabe.Funeral services for Sam will be held at St. Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Yeprem Kelegian officiating. Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers memorials to St. Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church have been suggested. Sam's family would like to thank the EMT's and Dr. Tierney for their outstanding and exceptional efforts.
