Obituary

RACINE – Salvatore "Sam" Filpi, 93, passed away at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in Union Grove on Sunday, May 29, 2016. Sam was born in Racine on October 30, 1922 to Anthony and Seraphina Filpi. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Sam owned and operated Jubilee Pizza and the Library Lounge. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Roma Lodge where he loved playing cards. Sam is survived by his sister, Celeste Trentadue; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Carmella Filpi, Mary Filpi and Ann DeMark; brother-in-law, James DeMark; and nephew, James Trentadue. A funeral service for Sam will be held in the Holy Cross Cemetery Chapel, Hwy 32, on Monday, June 6, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the chapel on Monday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 10:30 a.m. Memorials may be directed to the Honor flight or Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Special thanks to the staff at the Wisconsin Veterans Home, Boland Hall, for all of their compassionate care; and to his nephew, Tony Trentadue for everything he did to help Sam throughout the years.
