Racine - Ruthven D. 'Bud' Straube, 94, passed away at Harmony Living Center on Friday, February 15, 2013. Bud was born in Racine on June 9, 1918 to Clarence and Minnie (nee, Crandall) Straube. He married the former Marjorie Quella and she preceded him in death in February 1993. Bud graduated from Horlick High School in 1937 after which he enlisted in the Army Air Corps. After completing Aircraft Mechanics course he was assigned to France Field, Panama Canal Zone 1941-1943. Bud retired after 25 years of service as Chief Warrant Officer, US Air Force in 1964. He went to work for J I Case Company, retiring in 1980. In retirement he resided in Door County, returning to Racine in 2001. Bud's hobbies included wood working and carving. He was member of the Racine Elks, Sturgeon Bay American Legion Post, the Retired Officers Association and the McChord Air Museum Foundation at McChord AFB, WA.Survivors include his children, Martin (Carroll) Straube and Ruthann Cresswell; grandchildren, Coleen (Eric) Ruediger, Amy (John) Korako, James Watson, Kevin Watson, Kurt Watson, Rhett Straube, Nicholas (Kim Hurlebaus) Straube and Amanda (Chris) Goers; great-grandchildren, Ryan Ruediger, Alyssa Ruediger, Roman Korako, Tanner Korako, Lucian Straube and Iris Straube; and his sister, Beverly Schacht. Bud is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Cheryl Watson, in April 1991.Funeral services for Bud will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 11 a.m. Entombment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials may be directed to the Marine Corp League.The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff's at Harmony Living Center, Home Harbor and Hospice Alliance for all of their compassionate care.
