Genoa – Ruth M. Kannenberg, 88, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, November 30, 2011, at the home of her sister in Racine. Ruth was born in Racine on December 2, 1922 to Paul and Frieda (nee, Mundstock) Groenke. She married Bart Kannenberg on August 19, 1944. He preceded her in death on May 12, 2002. Ruth worked for Hamilton Beach for over 27 years, retiring in February 1967. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Racine and St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Stoddard, WI and the Hamilton Beach Twenty Year Club. Ruth loved fishing, cooking, crafting and collecting coins. Ruth is survived by her sisters, Evelyn (Edward) Proska and Margueritte 'Muggs' Weber. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, other relatives and friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her sister, LaVerne Szalay, Funeral services for Ruth will be held at the funeral home on Monday, December 5, 2011 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Randal Poppe officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 until 5 p.m. and on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials may be directed to Grace Lutheran Church.
