Sheboygan, WI – Russell M. Levengood, 89, passed away at Harmony Assisted Living in Sheboygan on Sunday, January 16, 2011. Russ was born in Boyertown, PA on August 17, 1921 to Clifford and Loretta (nee, Swavely). Russell served in the U.S. Army for thirteen years. He met his wife, Mildred, while both were serving their country in Oro Bay, New Guinea, during WWII. Following their discharges, they were married at St. John's Lutheran Church in Racine on April 13, 1946. Russ worked for J.I. Case for forty years. After his retirement, he was a tour guide at the plant for several years, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He was also an avid Packer and Brewer fan. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, the Case 20 Year club and the VFW. Russ is survived by his wife, Mildred Levengood; daughters, Linda Levengood of Greendale and Louise (Michael) Hansen of Sheboygan; grandchildren, Katie (fianc, Michael Donzanti) Hansen of Orlando, FL and Scott Hansen of Sheboygan; sister-in-law, Evelyn L. Kapow; and brother-in-law, Glenn Johnson. Russ is also survived by other relatives and friends. Russ is also survived in Pennsylvania by half brothers, Randall (Mary) Eddinger and Philip (Gayle) Eddinger; half sisters, Mary (Merritt) Heist, Connie (Dale) Moyer and Evelyn Satutori in addition to nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; three half brothers, Donald, Barry and David, as well as his sister-in-law, Dorothy Johnson; and nephew, Marc Johnson. His funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, January 21, 2011 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Daniel B. Quinn officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park with full military honors. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to St. John's Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice.
