Racine - Roy 'Jake' Storves, 88, passed away at home on Saturday, December 1, 2012.Jake was born in Dollar Bay, MI on November 22, 1924, son of the late Emil and Amanda (Beattie) Storves. Jake graduated from Dollar Bay, MI High School in 1942. After serving his country and as a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Army, Jake married the love of his life, Marion (Dionne) Storves in 1948 at St. Joseph's Parish in Hancock, MI. Jake was employed as an Airplane Mechanic at Racine's John H. Batten Airport and at Harris Metals. Jake was a member of the EAA and enjoyed everything about airplanes, flight, and the men and women who pioneered both. Jake enjoyed traveling to all 50 states with Marion and his family and throughout his life, he kept his great sense of humor. Jake held his roots close and returned to Northern Michigan on a yearly basis. Surviving are his children, Mary Ellen Lee, James (Dawn) Storves of Racine, Carolyn (John) Dorner of Asheville, NC, and Joanne (Bob) Houillon of Wauwatosa, WI; grandchildren, Katie Crooks, Alyssa and Van Wharton, Nicole, Jenna and Bobby Houillon; brother-in-law, James (Nancy) Dionne of Dollar Bay, MI; sister-in-law Irene Storves; other relatives. In addition to his parents, Jake was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Marion; his brothers and sister, Ernie Storves, Elona (Wells) Noye, Robert (Gladys) Beattie, Roger (Lee) Storves, and Paul Storves.
