RACINE – Roger L. Slater, I, 76, passed away at home on Monday, September 26, 2016. Roger was born in Kingsford, MI on July 4, 1940 to Alex and Marion (nee, Owen) Slater. On August 12, 1961, Roger married the former Geraldine Jacoby, celebrating 54 years of marriage. Roger was employed by J.I. Case Company for ten years following which he became Marketing Service Manager for Young Radiator for over 30 years. He was an active member of Living Faith (formerly Atonement Lutheran) Church where he ushered for many years. Roger enjoyed reading and smoking his pipe; golfing, bowling and his Wednesday morning Young Radiator breakfast group. Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Slater; son, Roger L. (Lori) Slater, II; and his daughter, Wendy Lynn Slater. Roger is also survived by other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers and sisters, Owen Slater, Noreen Klinkhammer, June Bliesner, David Slater and Gary Slater. Funeral services for Roger will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 12 noon with Rev. Warren Williams and Rev. Denise Mbise officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 12 noon.
