Roger J. Kortegast passed away on June 19, 2018. A lifelong resident of Racine, he was born to Fred and Irma (nee Rusch) on July 20, 1938. He graduated from Lutheran High and worked at J.I. Case for 30 years. He participated in many sports, but baseball was his favorite, being selected the pitcher on the 1957 All-City Team. He was an avid supporter of the Racine Raiders, serving as their treasurer for several years. A devoted member of Faith Lutheran Church of Sturtevant, he would voluntarily record Sunday services and deliver them to members unable to attend. Roger was also a drum corps enthusiast, traveling to dozens of competitions, particularly if they involved the Kilties. Roger was preceded in death by his parents; sister Dorothy Ptaschinski; and brother Chuck. He is survived by sister, Lorraine Lemke; brother-in-law, Blaine Lemke; sister-in-law, Nancy Kortegast; four nephews and one niece. He enjoyed family get-togethers, had a keen sense of humor, and a hearty laugh.He will be fondly remembered by family and friends. A memorial service for Roger will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. Daniel Feldscher officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 5:00 p.m.
