Obituary

Racine – Roger K. Hoover, 74, passed away at home with his family by his side on Thursday, June 7, 2012 after a five year courageous battle with cancer. Roger was born in Red Cedar, WI on June 24, 1937 to Horatio and Frances (nee, Giese) Hoover. He married the former Myrna Sparks on August 19, 1961. Roger served in the U.S. Army and retired from Twin Disc, Inc. In his early years Roger loved to golf, bowl, fish and hunt, and was a lifelong Brewers and Packers fan, but most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren. Roger is survived by his loving wife of fifty-one years, Myrna Hoover; children, Randy Hoover, Todd (Sue) Hoover and Kristi (Dan) Moriarity; grandchildren, Lindsay Hoover, Brittany Hoover, Ryan Hoover, Tyler Hoover, Sydney Hoover, Sydney Moriarity and Olivia Moriarity; his sister, Judith Exferd; and his beloved dog, Charlie. Roger is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Clifford Hoover, Jerome Hoover and Dean Hoover. Funeral services for Roger will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2065 Geneva Street, on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Stephen Jennings officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Monday evening from 4 until 7 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network or Trinity Lutheran Church. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Michael Mullane, Kelly and the rest of his nursing staff; Dr. Guda; and Hospice Alliance, specifically, Jill, Debbie and Tiffany for all of their compassionate care.
