The Reverend Robert P. Wolff, 93, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Harvest Home, Mt. Pleasant. He spent his whole life in service to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, loving God and others faithfully with his gentle spirit and kind heart.

He was born in Racine on May 4, 1933, to the late Paul and Emma (nee: Ultsch) Wolff. Bob attended St. John’s Lutheran School and Racine Lutheran High School, graduating in 1951. He was called to ministry and attended Concordia College in Fort Wayne, IN, graduating in 1954. He then entered Concordia Theological Seminary in Springfield, IL, graduating in 1958.

On November 7, 1956, he married his high school sweetheart, Marlys (nee: Witte). They were blessed with four children: Susan Namowicz, Stephen (Debbie) Wolff, Thomas (Bobbie) Wolff, and Christin Wolff; four grandchildren: Thomas Wolff, Christopher Namowicz, Andrew (Alexandra) Namowicz, and Rebekah Namowicz; and five great-grandchildren: Mya, Christian, Walter, Elijah, and Bryce.

Bob’s ordination as a Lutheran Pastor was on July 13, 1958, and took place in Iowa, where he served a dual parish - Christ Lutheran Church in Gladbrook, and St John Lutheran Church in Wellsburg. In 1962, he was called to Christ the King Lutheran Church in Racine, where he served for 16 years. While in Racine, Bob served as a counselor for the drug and alcohol dependency program at the Addiction Center of the Lincoln Lutheran Home. He also began a weekly sermon study for fellow pastors. In 1979, he was called to serve at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Chino, CA. Over his 20 years of serving this congregation, he continued to meet with fellow pastors for a weekly Bible study, served on the board of directors for Lutheran High School - LaVerne, CA, and served as Circuit Counselor for the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Bob retired from the ministry in 1999.

Retirement, however, did not detract from Bob’s desire to continue serving the Lord. Though he spent many mornings on the tennis or racquetball court, he used those opportunities to connect with others and share with them his love for Jesus. He made his neighborhood his mission field, knowing all of the local grocery store clerks, bank tellers, and coffee shop baristas by name, and making a special trip to see them on their birthdays. In addition, he used his 40 years of ministry experience to mentor young pastors, lead Bible studies, and serve alongside his wife, Marlys, as a recruiter for Lutheran High School (LaVerne), where he was a Pastor Emeritus. One of Bob’s greatest joys was visiting those who were homebound due to age or illness and bringing them the Lord’s Supper. He did this not only throughout his ministry, but well into his retirement. Even as a resident of a care facility himself, Bob was often known for his gentle pat on the hand and the words, “God bless you.”

Psalm 90:12 was one of many Bible verses Bob lived by. It says, “Teach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” Each day, Bob kept track of the number of days God granted him life and proudly announced it to anyone who asked. He entered the arms of his Savior with a heart full of wisdom after living 34,051 days.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Lorraine and Carl Slye, and their daughter Linda Loewenhagen.

A memorial service for Rev. Robert P. Wolff will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2065 Geneva Street, Racine, with Pastor David Gehne officiating. Robert will be laid to rest privately in Graceland Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Christ the King Lutheran Church (Racine), Trinity Lutheran Church (Racine), Racine Lutheran High School, or a Christian Charity of your choice.
