Racine – Robert S. Rowland, 87, passed away at home on Friday, May 19, 2017. Bob was born in Racine on January 21, 1930 to Otto and Ida (nee, Wrixton) Rowland. He has been a lifelong Racine resident. Bob married the former Charlene E. Baker in Racine on December 21, 1965. Bob graduated from Washington Park High School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict Era. Bob was employed with the Teamsters for over 31 years, working for Progressive Dairy and Silver Steel. Bob was also employed with Pinkerton's for over 10 years, and with Lincoln Village Convalescent Center for several years after he "retired". Survivors include his daughter, Nancy Willis and her children, James (Lindsay) and Lisa Willis; great grandchildren, Emma, Liam, & Logan Willis of Racine; son, Michael Rowland of Racine, and grandchildren Trisha, Samantha, and Katie and great grandchild Colton Flores; sister, Ruth Wadewitz, and sister-in-law Jean Rowland of Rapid City, South Dakota. Bob is also survived by several nieces & nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Charlene on January 23, 2016, his parents; and three brothers, George, Elden and Edward Rowland.A Memorial Service for Bob will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 3 p.m. A private family Inurnment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday afternoon from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 3 p.m. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Alliance or the American Heart Association.
