Racine – Robert L. Petak 96, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints on Tuesday, August 9, 2016. Bob was born in Racine on February 8, 1920 to Bartel P. and Ethel (nee, Rost) Petak. He married the former Virginia Lee "Ginny" Paton on March 20, 1942. Bob served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. For many years, Bob was a journeyman carpenter and cabinet maker. He worked at J.I. Case Company as a model maker in the design department until his retirement after more than eighteen years. Bob enjoyed many years of hunting and fishing, antiquing with his wife, playing with his grandsons and later in life spent a lot of time woodworking, gardening, watching birds and walking his dog. Survivors include his daughters, Barbara Petak and Janet "Jan" (John) Frederiksen; grandsons, Erik Frederiksen and Kurt Frederiksen; and his sister, Elaine (Erwin) Bullette. Bob is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Walter Braatz; brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence and Bessie Petak; and his faithful dog, Dixon. Memorial services for Bob will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:30 p.m. Following the service there will be a luncheon at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Humane Society of the U.S. (HSUS), ASPCA or Wisconsin Humane Society. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Society's Assets for his wonderful aides, Bernice, Marion and Susan, and to his case worker, Jimmetta; the staff at Wheaton for his care in his last days, and to his Meals on Wheels volunteers.
