RACINE – Robert Crispen Benson, Sr. age 90, passed away peacefully at the home of his son in Racine, Wisconsin on Saturday, March 18, 2017. Bob was born in Chicago on April 16, 1926, son of the late Crispen Emanuel Benson & Miriam Ann Jones. On July 2, 1949, he married Anna Mae Janis Nebel. She preceded him in death on May 24, 2009. Bob and his wife raised 3 sons in the neighborhood of Portage Park, Chicago and is survived by his son Richard (Brenda Trumbauer) of Racine, Wisconsin. Son Ronald Allen (Marianne) preceded him in death October 16, 2016, and son Robert Crispen, Jr. (Patricia) passed away April 26, 2017. He is further survived by 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. A Memorial Service with full military honors is planned for 1:00 PM Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Emmaus ELCA (Lutheran) Church, 1925 Summit Ave, Racine, Wisconsin with the Rev. Steve Wohlfeil presiding. In lieu of flowers and in honor of Robert's love for the children where he was attending church, donations are suggested to Emmaus ELCA Outreach Program and EASY after school program.
