RACINE – Richard L. Sandvig, 66, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints on Tuesday, November 3, 2015. Richard was born in Racine on September 16, 1949 to Arthur and Alice (nee, Vacek) Sandvig. He served in the U.S. Navy on the Aircraft Carrier, Midway from 1968 until 1970. Richard worked at Metler Toledo Scale for over 30 years, retiring from Vilter Mfg. after 10 years. In retirement, Richard loved to sketch and do woodworking. Survivors include his brothers, Allen (Catherine) Sandvig and Gary (Melissa) Sandvig; nieces and nephew, Nathan Sandvig, Emily Clymer, Ellen Ney and Beth Sandvig; and his cousins, Cal (Bea) Vacek and Cliff (Alma) Vacek. Richard is also survived by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his daughter, Shannon Gallagher. Funeral services for Richard will be held at the funeral home on Monday, November 9, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. Interment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Monday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:30 a.m.
