Obituary

Racine – Richard M. Levandowski, 69, passed away at home May 29th, 2011. Richard was born in Racine on July 1, 1941 to Stephen and Lucille (nee, Daly) Levandowski. He married the former Clara "Claire" Giever in Racine on August 21, 1965. Richard was employed as Director of Purchasing with Getty's Manufacturing for over seventeen years. In 1978 he started Badger Electronics, which he owned for twenty five years until his retirement in 2003. Richard was the families "Mr. Fix It". He loved working on his cars and clocks, and enjoying a good cigar. He was the perennial host of the yearly 4th of July and Christmas Day celebrations held at his home over the last forty plus years. Richard was active in the Boy Scouts of American serving on the Advisory Board of Directors and as an Adult Leader of St. Rita's Church Troop 161. He also served on the Executive Board of TEC 50 and was a member of Meadowbrook Country Club for over ten years. Richard formed the Open Book Society at Badger Electronics and enjoyed spending time with his many friends in the Elkhart Lake Sipping Society during their many trips to Elkhart Lake. But most of all, Richard was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and any time he spent with his family was his best of times. Survivors include his wife, Clara "Claire" Levandowski; children, Jodie (Eben Hall) of Dallas, TX, Jill (Scott) Turner of Racine, and Matthew (Lisa) Levandowski of Brookfield, WI; grandchildren, Sage and Jenna Claire Turner, and Samuel and Charles Levandowski; his sister and her special friend, Joyce Levandowski and M. Kay Pearson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Alan (Claudette) Giever of Sarasota, FL, Lynn Giever of Barrington, IL, Barbara (Michael) Quayle of Racine, Lennie (Pattie) Giever of Greenwood, IN, Alice Geisler (John Brecheisen) of Oak Creek, WI, Craig Geisler (Jeff Jensen ) of Madison, WI, and Justine (Pat) Brady of Sun Prairie, WI. Richard is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Raymond and Anna Giever; and brother-in-law, Michael Giever. A Memorial service for Richard will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, June 4th, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Saturday form 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Richard Levandowski Educational Fund at M & I Bank or a charity of your choice.
