Richard L. Koepsel, 84, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, December 8, 2019. Richard was born in Milwaukee on September 21, 1935 to Arthur and Irma (Brasted) Koepsel. He served in the United States Army stationed in Korea from 1954- 1956. He worked all his life in a cement plant operating heavy equipment. Richard married the love of his life Avis Opine on April 27, 1957. He adored his wife so much that he carried his favorite picture of her from 1956 in his wallet all these years. His greatest accomplishment was his family. He loved family gatherings and attending his grandchildren's various activities. Richard was an extremely social man. He was either meeting up with his friends at the mall or Walmart to walk or playing a round of golf. He also enjoyed sitting back relaxing while watching an old movie. Richard also looked forward to going to the Wisconsin State fair every year with his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Avis Koepsel; daughters and sons in law, Kim (Gary Janowski) Koepsel and Jill (Mike) Pilger; son Kurt Koepsel; grandchildren, Ashley Madala, Taylor Denman, Nick (Amanda) Pilger, Katie and Kyle Koepsel; great granddaughter, Harper Pilger; sister Lois Kennedy; brothers in law, Mike Pallen and Augie Pradarelli and sister in law Susie Lukacevic. Richard is further survived my nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Kenny, Laurel and Jerry and sisters, Laverne, Audrey, Dolly, Beverly and Carol. A special thank you to Dr. Howard Short and Karen Murillo. Also, thank you to his Hospice team, Jasmine, Shawnese and Tracy. A visitation for Richard will be held at the funeral home on Monday, December 16, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until a time of sharing at 7:00 p.m. Interment will take place in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at 10:00 a.m.
