Racine – Richard C. Kaplan, 80, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints on Friday, June 18, 2010. Richard was born in Racine on January 25, 1930 to Frank and Albi (nee, Just) Kaplan. He married the former Rose M. Meister at St. Rita's Catholic Church on October 28, 1950. Richard retired from Racine Unified School District and was a member of St. Augustine. Survivors include his wife, Rose Kaplan; children, Susan Kaplan, Jane (Jack) Macemon and Karen (Wendell) Mangum; granddaughters, Amy, Melissa and Anna; his brother, Emil Kaplan; sister, Elsie Despins; sisters-in-law, Lillian Dimeo, Sylvia (Anthony) Hirt and Angela (Joseph) Uvelli;. Richard is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Louie Kaplan and Jerome Kaplan; and sisters, Lydia Osadsky and Mildred LaMartina The Mass of Christian Burial for Richard will be held at St. Rita's Catholic Church, 4339 Douglas Avenue, on Monday, June 21, 2010 at 11 a.m., celebrated by Rev. Joseph Stobba, O.S.A. Entombment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. and at the church on Monday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Rita's Catholic Church.
