Obituary

RACINE – Richard J. James (Dick), 88, passed away peacefully at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in Union Grove on Saturday, September 6, 2014.Dick was born in Racine on December 24, 1925 to Irving and Elizabeth (nee:Carmen) James. He served in World War II and the Korean War. Dick retired as a supervisor in 1986 from Wisconsin Electric after 42 years of service. His loving wife Joyce (nee: Matson) preceded him in death in 2008. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed. Survivors include his children; Tom James, Steven (Polly) James of Wausau, and Jennifer (Tony) Catrine of Racine; granddaughters, Amy Sasse of Racine, and Katie (Jason) Rasoul of Brookfield; step-grandchildren, Brian (Kris) Catrine of North Oaks, MN, Aaron (Jaymee) Catrine of Lexington, KY and Tina (Chuck) Murry of Racine; great-grandchildren, Seth and Chelsea Haertel, and Baby Rasoul (expected in October); step-great grandchildren, Alex, Jason, Tanner and Isabella Catrine, and Hailey and Aiden Murry; brother, Bill James of Racine, sisters-in-law, Betty Matson of Boulder, CO, and Ellie James of Germantown. Dick is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife, Dick was preceded in death by his parents, brother Bob James, sisters; Dorothy Lauritsen, Mary Broshot, and Pat LePoidevin, sisters-in-law, Audrey James and Irene James and brothers-in-law, Cecil Lauritsen, Elmer Broshot, Jack LePoidevin, Sterling Matson. Private family services for Dick will be held. Inurnment will take place in the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery-Union Grove. The family has suggested memorials to Health Care Network, 904 State Street Racine, WI 53404 or to the Alzheimer's Association of Southeastern Wisconsin, Suite 160, Milwaukee, WI 53214. The family would like to thank the 3rd floor west staff at Boland Hall for all of the wonderful care given to Dick.
