Richard J. 'Dick' Christensen, Sr. Racine - Richard J. Christensen, Sr., 80, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Oak Ridge Care Center on Sunday, December 2, 2007. Dick was born in Racine on January 14, 1927 to Einer and Edna (nee, Trump) Christensen. He married the former Rosemarie Anderson in Racine on January 10, 1948. She preceded him in death. Dick was a Yeoman Third Class in the U.S. Navy, serving in the South Pacific during WWII. He was employed by James Cape & Sons for over 40 years, retiring in 1988. Dick was Commodore of the Harbor Lite Yacht Club from 1988-89 and a past president of the Racine Snowmobile Club. Dick was an avid cribbage player and golfer, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. Survivors include his children, Sharon (Bob) Fenkl, James (Linda) Christensen, Robert (Helen) Christensen, Richard Christensen, Jr., Thomas (Rhonda) Christensen and Ronald (Marnie) Christensen; grandchildren, Laura, Lisa, David, Jeremy, Adam, Angela, Kristina, Earl, Rachel, Devin, Lainie, Cody and Justin; great grandchildren, Brandon, Kourtney, Jordan, Hunter, Kylee, Kage, Kinzie, Quintan and Ashlyn; and his sisters, Sandra (Art) White, Karen (Don) Gaddes and Sharon (Walt) Cronk. Dick is also survived by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his granddaughter, Jody. Funeral services for Dick will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Cary Winn officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park with Full Military Honors. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of services. Memorials may be directed to First Reformed Church. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Oak Ridge Care Center, especially Anna and Kristin, for all of their care and compassion shown to Dick.
