Obituary

Racine – Renata Lueckfeld, 90, passed away at her home on Sunday, May 29, 2011. Renata was born in Pequot Lakes, MN on May 16, 1921 to the Rev. and Mrs. Paul Priesz. Since her father accepted a call to Montevideo, MN in 1922, it was in this town that she was raised and received her elementary and high school education. Being directed toward the noble calling of a Christian teacher, she enrolled as a student at Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN. Upon completion of her professional studies at that school in 1945, she accepted a call to Redeemer Lutheran School here in Racine. In addition to teaching grades Kindergarten to four at Redeemer, she also taught Sunday School. In September 1963, she began teaching Kindergarten at St. John's Lutheran School, where by the grace of God, she was able to teach her first four grandchildren and she has been privileged to serve for twenty six years retiring in June 1989. After retiring, Renata enjoyed spending her time, cooking, baking, crocheting and being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren that were her great joy in life. On April 5, 1956, she was united in marriage to Kenneth R. Lueckfeld in Ortonville, MN with her brother Rev. Edgar Priesz performing the ceremony. Kenneth preceded her in death on February 6, 1998. This union has been blessed with four children, Paul (Selena) Lueckfeld, Kristine (Bradlee) Nimz, John (Terry Duncan) Lueckfeld and Mary Lueckfeld; nine grandchildren Raven, Erik, Megan, Kyle, Kayla, Kirsten, Ian, Aron, and Michael; four great grandchildren, Fehin Jones, Christopher, Landen and Lillian Lueckfeld; brother, Paul Priesz; sisters-in-law, Lillian Priesz and Jane Priesz; and brother-in-law, Gordon (Judy) Lueckfeld. Renata is also survived by nieces, nephews, in-law's, and a treasured niece, Connie Bowen. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Edgar, Arture and Eugene Priesz; and sisters, Cecelia Becker and Ruth Priesz. Funeral services for Renata will be held at the funeral home on Friday, June 3, 2011 at 7 p.m. with Rev. Daniel B. Quinn officiating. Inurnment will take place in Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5 p.m. until the time of the service. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Wheaton Franciscan Hospice care team and Dr. Robert Brown for all of their compassionate care.
