Phyllis Vash Racine – Phyllis Vash, 77, passed away at her home on Wednesday, April 28, 2010. Phyllis was born in Racine on September 20, 1932 to Francis T. and A. Pauline (nee, Marrier) Parenteau. She was delivered by her maternal grandmother Louise Marrier. Phyllis married Joseph R. Vash on April 29, 1950 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Racine. She was employed in Special Ed transportation for Racine Unified for over twenty years and loved her "kids". She retired from Matthews Transportation, where she had the best boss in the world. She was also a Girl Scout Leader for 7 years. Phyllis is survived by her husband, Joseph R. Vash; children, Jane (David) Niesen, Bernard R. (Debra) Vash, Jo Ann Rodriguez, Joseph W. (Cheryl) Vash, Greg Vash and Theresa McCurdy; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and her brothers, Gerald (Donna) Parenteau and Alan Parenteau. Phyllis is also survived by many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her infant son Robert John, who passed away at birth and her parents. Funeral services for Phyllis will be held at the funeral home on Friday, April 30, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Grant Quever officiating. Entombment will take place in Holy Cross, Hwy. 32 Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until the time of services. Memorials may be directed to Milwaukee Children's Hospital.
