Obituary

RACINE – Peter K. Kazarian, 86, passed away on Friday, March 18, 2022. Peter was born in Racine, Wisconsin on January 28, 1936, to the late Kaiser and Dirouhi (nee Tokatlian) Kazarian. He graduated from Wm. Horlick High School in 1955, followed by a two-year service in the U.S. Army. On May 23, 1970, Peter wed Sosi Kaisserlian and together they enjoyed almost 52 years of marriage and family. Peter worked at E.C. Styberg Engineering Co. where he retired from in 2001 after 29 years. As a young child, Peter moved with his family to Fresno, California for two years where he had many fond memories of working on the family vineyard; he also loved reminiscing about his childhood growing up on State Street among many other Armenian families. Peter enjoyed driving (he knew every street in Racine and often took alternate routes to explore his own hometown), traveling abroad, taking road trips throughout the United States, gardening and reading many books he'd reserve from the library; he especially loved reading to his grandchildren when they were young. Family was everything to Peter and he enjoyed their company more than anything, always taking pride in his daughters as they grew up, and reveling in all that his grandchildren would do and say. He often displayed his grandkids' hand-drawn creations on the walls and windows near where he would sit in the house, in view so that he was always reminded of them even when they were apart. Peter had a thirst for knowledge and conversation; he enjoyed talking to anyone he encountered and would always take an interest in where they were from and what they did for work. He enjoyed watching college basketball on TV, and attending Bucks games as well as Brewers games, tailgating at the latter and especially appreciating a sunny day for the outing; he'd be astonished and amused at the number of spectators, and always found the players' athleticism remarkable. Peter's kind heart and gentle nature were some of his many wonderful and endearing qualities, something which will be fondly remembered by his loved ones and friends, and which will live on in his family along with their deep love for him. Peter is survived by his wife, Sosi Kazarian; daughters, Tamar (Vahag) Vartanian and Lara (Daniel Krueger) Kazarian Krueger; grandchildren, Nareh, Arenie, Tevene and Nareg Vartanian, and Van Krueger; and his brothers, Sam (Nancy) Kazarian and Jack (Pam) Kazarian. Peter is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, George Kazarian. A funeral service for Peter will be held at St. Hagop Armenian Apostolic Church, 4100 N Newman Road, on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery.
