Paul Schacht, May 31, 1938 – June 30, 2025, Racine, Wisconsin
Paul Karl "PK" Schacht was called home to be with his Savior on the morning of Monday, June 30, 2025, at Hospice Alliance in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. He was born on May 31, 1938, in Racine to Paul C. and Mabel (née Krause) Schacht.
A proud graduate of Horlick High School and Carthage College (then located in Illinois), Paul went on to live a life rooted in faith, family, and service. On October 7, 1961, he married Judith "Judy" Loomis. Together, they shared 63 wonderful years of marriage.
Paul will be recalled not only as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, but also as a dedicated servant to his community and profession. He was a Shriner for over 50 years, a member of the Racine Fourth Fest Board for more than three decades, and a lifelong member of the Deutscher Männer Verein. His faith guided him to serve on numerous church committees at the former Emmanuel Lutheran Church and later at Journey in Faith Church. Professionally, he chaired the National Fluid Power Association's Fluids Standards Committee for 30 years, helping to shape and strengthen the field.
As Paul recently reflected on his life, he fondly remembered camping trips with family and friends, traveling across the U.S. and abroad with Judy and close companions, and regularly sharing good times with dear friends. He spoke of the many friendships he formed during his career as a chemist, beginning at Racine Hydraulics and continuing through its acquisitions by Rexnord, Dana, and Bosch. Paul found joy in simple pleasures—tending his yard, refilling bird feeders, playfully cursing the squirrels, and tinkering with any fix-it projects that caught his interest. He was happiest by the fireplace on a snowy day, popcorn in hand, cheering for the Packers. Above all, he cherished time spent with Judy, his children, and grandchildren.
Paul is lovingly remembered by his wife Judy; his children, David (Mary) Schacht, Sharon (Drew) Dolan, and Kristi (Alan) Forbes; his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his sister Sandra "Sandy" (Donald) Hansen; several nieces and nephews; and innumerable dear friends and colleagues.
A celebration of Paul's life will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Infusino's Banquet Hall, 3201 Rapids Drive, Racine, WI. Visitation will take place from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a service and luncheon.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Hospice Alliance's Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie, WI; 4th Fest of Greater Racine; or Carthage College.
