Oscar M. HaugsbyRacine- Oscar M. Haugsby, 93, died at Ridgewood Rehabilitation Center in Racine on Sunday, December 25, 2011.Oscar was born in Hawkins, Rusk County on January 11, 1918, the son of Thomas and Inge (Bakken) Haugsby, originally from Norway. Oscar graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1937. He served his country during WWII in the United States Army Air Force. He spent his working years as a food product salesman for Patrick Cudahy, Wilson, Monarch Foods and R&S Meats. Oscar was a member of the Racine Optimists where he was on their bowling league and active participant in the annual Pancake Day Celebration and fundraiser. He enjoyed golf and the Fit for Life program at the YMCA and visiting his many friends. He married Virginia K. Bloom on February 11, 1950 in Wausau. She preceded him in death on March 2, 2011.Oscar is survived by their three daughters; Shelley L. (Dennis) Costello of Williams Bay, Vickie L. Haugsby and Lisa (James) Leicht both of Racine; grandchildren, Zachary J. Leicht, MacKenzie M. Leicht, Vaughn 'Scott' Johnson and great granddaughter, Madelyn Johnson. He is further survived by his sister Beatrice Jaffee of Miami, FL and brother James of Pardeville, WI. Oscar was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Arnold and Robert Haugsby.Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at the funeral home followed by a funeral service at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Miritz officiating. He will be interred next to his wife Virginia at West Lawn Memorial Park.
