Nazareth Chalekian Racine – Nazareth "Naz" Chalekian, 79 passed away at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints on Friday, April 2, 2010.Naz was born in Racine on April 1, 1931 to George and Kohar Chalekian. He was employed by Western Publishing Company for over 44 years, retiring in 1993 and was a member of the Twenty Year Club at Western. Naz was a lifetime member of St. Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church. He also was a member of Meadowbrook Country Club for over 55 years. Naz is survived by his sister, Susan (John) Esayian of Racine; brothers, Suran (Eleanor) Chalekian of Brentwood, CA and Adam (Lauren) Chalekian of Racine; nephews, Nicholas Esayian of Rancho Sante Fe, CA, Aaron Chalekian of Minneapolis, MN and George Chalekian of Honolulu, HA; and nieces, Christa Chalekian of Chicago, IL and Holly Warburton of Walnut Creek, CA. Naz is also survived by other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Kohar Chalekian; and his uncle, Chares Chalekian. Funeral services for Naz will be held at St. Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church, 4605 Erie Street, on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Yeprem Kelegian officiating. Entombment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. with the prayer service at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Mesrob Church.
