Racine – Muriel J. Stephan, 89, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints on Tuesday, December 18, 2012. Muriel was born in Racine on October 28, 1923 to John and Bertha Preuss. She married Howard L. Stephan on June 13, 1942. He preceded her in death in 2003. Muriel retired from In-Sink-Erator after more than 34 years. Survivors include her daughter, Sharon (Monty 'Doc') Matson; grandchildren, Matthew Matson, David (Jenny) Matson, Charles Stephan, Farrah Stephan, Tammy (Greg) Stephan and Karen Stephan; great-grandchildren, Aymee, Madelynn, Nathan, David, Jr., Sydni, Shelby, Katie, Robby, Emily, Shawn and Savannah; and her nephews, Edward (Donna) Stephan and Keith Stephan. Muriel is also survived by other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Shirley Preuss Day; son, Robert 'Bob' in 2007; her daughter-in-law, Linda in 2011 and sisters, Florence Stephan and Marge Ostergaard. Funeral services for Muriel will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 8 a.m. until the time of the service.
